Through seed funding provided by the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) and the Office of Senator Loren Legarda (OSLL), Philippine Studies Programs were established and strengthened with 34 partner academic institutions worldwide, helping create permanent platforms for Philippine Studies and ensuring the long-term sustainability of teaching and research on Philippine history, culture, and society abroad.
The funding allowed partner universities to establish lectureships, organize conferences, produce research outputs, and host exchanges that highlight the Philippines’ role in regional and global contexts. Several institutions received multi-year support, reflecting their continuing commitment to grow Philippine Studies as a field.
